Dr. John T. Holmstrom is a 1971 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine who began his veterinary career as a Captain in the U.S. Army, in charge of the sentry dogs in Vietnam. He has practiced in small-animal clinics and at a dairy farm in North Texas.
For about 15 years, he and his family farmed and ranched in Williamson County. In the mid-1990s, he quit the agriculture business and began practicing out of his pickup truck, serving clients with small and large animals all over Williamson County. He is well-known in the area for his down-to-earth, practical knowledge of large-animal medicine. He also possesses the same pragmatic approach to small animals.
Dr. Holmstrom built the Hutto clinic in 2000, when the city was on the brink of a population explosion, and the clinic was one of the first businesses on Front Street.
Dr. Holmstrom and his wife, Linda L. Welch, the business manager, have five children: two sons and three daughters, and five grandchildren. They have two dogs and a cat.
